Wood With a Story
Smoky Mountain Vintage Lumber specializes in reclaimed lumber from barns and other historic buildings throughout the Smoky Mountain region.
Reclaimed lumber is popular for many reasons: the wood's unique appearance, its contribution to green building or LEED certification, the history of the wood's origins and the wood's physical quality characteristics such as strength, stability and durability.
The increased strength of reclaimed wood is often attributed to the lack of air pollution that existed up until the 20th century as well as the wood often being harvested from old growth trees, which had hundreds of years to grow before man touched them. Pick up a 2x6 piece of Smoky Mountain Vintage Lumber, and you'll feel the difference!
Smoky Mountain Vintage Lumber takes great pride in preserving the stories of the structures from which we get our reclaimed lumber. By conducting interviews, gathering backstories when possible, and photographing the existing structure, we can really get a feel of what the life of the barn or building was really like.
And by doing so, our customers not only receive the highest quality lumber for their projects, but also an instant conversation piece as well!
